Did you know the United States, and Indiana, in particular, has high rates of infant mortality?  Infant mortality is the death of a baby before his or her first birthday.  What’s worse is that African American babies in Indiana have a death rate that is three times higher than white babies.  Labor of Love is working to combat infant death rates by providing resources to new and expectant parents.

The Milk Bank provides donated human breast milk that has been pasteurized to premature and ill infants in hospital neonatal intensive care units (NICUs).  Clinical Research has shown that premature babies that were fed human milk spent 15 fewer days hospitalized than those receiving formula (Wright, 2001).
